Catch Travis' forecast during Good Morning Charlottesville from 5 a.m. to 7.am. and the CBS19 News @ Noon Monday - Friday
Travis Koshko's roots in weather date back to the day he was born. Eight and a half inches of snow fell, and he was almost born in the back of a 1973 Volvo on the way to the hospital! For as long as he can remember, Travis has had an interest in the working of the atmosphere and is happy and honored to be the Chief Meteorologist for the Charlottesville Newsplex.
Before coming to Charlottesville in January 2008, Travis spent eight years as the Chief Meteorologist at WWCP / WATM-TV in Johnstown, Pa. It was there that he grew an appreciation for lake-effect snow and very long winters. He also created a program called "Where's Koshko," which took the world of weather and television out to the comunity through public appearances. Travis taught a natural disasters course at Mount Aloysius College in nearby Cresson, and was also active in educating firefighters about the applications of meteorology in both firefighting and Hazmat situations. Travis is a graduate of Penn State Unviersity's meteorology program and is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He currently holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval for Television Broadcasting.
Originally from York, Pa., Travis is excited to call Charlottesville his home. When not forecasting or in front of the camera, he can usually be found enjoying his other passions in life, including photography, travel, alternative music, driving on windy mountain roads and red Swedish Fish.
