Trent Holden is a senior at St. Anne's-Belfield, serving as a captain on the girls' volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse teams. But besides being an all-star athlete, she's a role model and community member trying to make a difference.

"Trent embodies one of those individuals that you want to be associated with, especially as a friend, as a student, as an athlete."

Trent was recently recognized as a Charlottesville Community Foundation member. She also helped implement the St. Anne's-Belfield Prefect program, made up of a group of student leaders.

"She works extra hard in the classroom," said head volleyball coach Stacey Gearhart. "She takes challenging courses, she knows how to go and approach a teach and use her time wisely, she's involved in many different community opportunities."

"She is wise beyond her years, added head basketball coach Phil Stinnie. "She's very articulate and works hard. She knows how to rally the students and faculty behind her. It's just amazing what she can do, especially carrying the workload that she does."

In October, Trent organized events for all of the Saints fall sports teams as a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She also brought an oncologist on campus to give a lecture on the disease. The cause is an important one to Trent as her mother is a survivor.

"It was very hectic but it really meant a lot to me," the senior said of the busy month of activities. "We worked really hard together because we've been wanting to do this for the past year and it actually worked out well and I was really proud of everyone."

Coach Stinnie has developed a motto that relates to Trent's go-getter attitude. "I always say, whenever we need to get something done, go to Trent Holden. She gets it done."

Trent is in the midst of her final basketball season at STAB and will complete her career on the lacrosse field this spring. Her coaches call the senior captain 'one in a million' as a role model and motivator.

"I think because I expect so much out of myself I also try to encourage my teammates," Trent said. "I feel like when you start picking yourself up, it picks everyone else up."

"Her teammates are always more important than she is," said Gearhart. "As a head coach you love to see that role model at the top."
