Jennifer Kline, Program Coordinator, Foothills Child Advocacy Center
Many nonprofits dedicate their missions to providing quality programming for youth. During the day-to-day focus of programs, it can be a challenge to continually ensure that procedures for safeguarding youth are up to date and comprehensive. Join CNE and Representatives from Foothills Child Advocacy Center and Children, Youth and Family Services to learn about the steps your organization should take to prevent risks and the course of action to take when you encounter a breach. In this training you will learn about the six components of child abuse prevention, which include:
1. Screening and selecting employees & volunteers through background checks
2. Developing and maintaining comprehensive guidelines
3. Monitoring client, staff, and volunteer interactions
4. Ensuring safe environments
5. Responding to breaches in policy, including information on mandated reporter guidelines
6. Educating staff, clients and families about child safety
You will walk away with an understanding of what parents need to know when selecting programs for their children, concrete examples of local nonprofit prevention programs and policies, and additional trainings your organization can receive to ensure youth clients are safeguarded through your services. You will also be given the opportunity to learn from other participants’ experiences and share resources and strategies.
Executive Directors, Program Directors and Managers, and Human Resources personnel within youth-serving organizations are encouraged to attend.
