The Drama Club, which was established September 6, 2001, is under the direction of Rod & Kristina Durrer. It is part of the Walker EDGE (Extended Day Generates Excellence) Program. The Drama Club offers emerging actors, and students who would rather be behind-the-scenes, an opportunity to participate in supervised creative dramatic activities which include rehearsals, theater games and a final production. Students are exposed to the different aspects of theater including impromptu skits, vocal music, dance, props and tech crew. Some of the lessons the students are taught are parts of the stage, movement, expression, emotions, projection, and the basics of acting skills. The club works on creative thinking skills, encourages teamwork, and provides students with enriched learning experiences in the area of performing arts. At the conclusion of each semester the actors put on a performance for their parents, peers and community members.
