Radio Control Piloting for Animal Welfare Shindig (RC-PAWS)

Date(s): 6/14/2014

Fluvanna County Radio Control Flying Club field adjacent to county landfill, Fork Union, Virginia
On Saturday, June 14th 2014, the Fluvanna County Radio Control Flying Club (FCRCFC) will host Radio Control Piloting for Animal Welfare Shindig (RC-PAWS) at the club’s field immediately adjacent to the Fluvanna County Landfill. RC-PAWS will be a major radio control flying event coupled with a fundraiser for the Fluvanna SPCA (www.fspca.org), Peaceful Passings (www.peacefulpassings.org), and Caring for Creatures (www.caringforcreatures.org), three wonderful Fluvanna County animal welfare organizations.
The event will run from 9 AM to 4 PM. Throughout the day, pilots from the FCRCFC and other nearby radio control flying clubs will have airplanes in the air – small ones, big ones, slow flying trainers and hot aerobatic machines, one-of-a-kind designs and scale military and civilian aircraft, helicopters -just about anything that flies is likely to be take to the air at some time during the event!
The aerobatic demonstrations are just part of the fun. Caring for Creatures, Fluvanna SPCA, and Peaceful Passings will all be on site with information, and there will also be adoption events! Visit them, learn about all the great work they do on behalf of cats and dogs here in Fluvanna County, and, perhaps, add a new member to your family. How very heartwarming it would be for some dogs to find their new “furever” adoptive dads on Father’s Day Saturday.
Admission to RC-PAWS is a $10.00 donation, which includes lunch AND a door prize ticket. There will be door prize drawings every 30 minutes between 10 AM and 1:30 PM.
In addition to door prizes, there will be a huge raffle, with proceeds going to the beneficiaries. Raffle tickets are $5.00 each, or 5 for $20.00. With raffle prizes like overnight stays at local bed and breakfasts, recreation tickets for Wintergreen Resort, a fire pit from Plow and Hearth, and MUCH more, there will be many opportunities to win, and you’ll want to buy lots of raffle tickets.
So, to recap: with awesome radio control airplanes in the air all day, three animal rescue organizations on site with displays and information, adoption events, great food from two local catering outfits, eight chances for a door prize, and some GREAT raffle prizes donated by local businesses, RC-PAWS will be THE place to be Saturday, June 14th. Don’t miss it, and be sure to bring a lawn chair and sunscreen to enhance your enjoyment of this first ever RC-PAWS.
