United Nations of Comedy Tour

Nov 19, 2011 8pm - 10:30pm

Paramount Theater - 215 East Main Street
On Saturday, November 19, 2011, the United Nations of Comedy Tour will launch in Charlottesville, Virginia, with five national comedians sharing the Paramount Theater stage for the biggest comedy show in Charlottesville history.

The show will feature five of today’s funniest comedians, as seen on Comedy Central, BET Comic View, HBO, Showtime, and other national programs: Gina Brillon (based in New York), David Foster (New York), Bridget McManus (California), Sheng Wang (New York) and Skiba (Washington, D.C.).

The United Nations of Comedy Tour is the latest effort from tour promoter Ty Cooper, the force behind the recent National Stand-Up Comedy Series in Charlottesville, where each of these comedians was a stand-alone headliner. "My mission is to promote multicultural diversity and bring people together through laughter," Cooper said.

General admission tickets are $29.50, a great value for a show with five national headliners sharing the stage. "A big show for a low ticket price is one of my goals, to attract as many people as possible to witness entertainment history in Charlottesville," Cooper said.

Doors open at 7 p.m., Nov. 19, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Local comedian Bill Metzger will open the show.

In addition to $29.50 general admission tickets, 100 VIP tickets are available for $50 each. A VIP ticket reserves a seat in the first few center rows and grants access to a pre-show reception starting at 7 p.m. inside the Paramount, featuring wine, a Southern food buffet and a chance to meet the artists.

Tickets are on sale now at the Paramount Theater’s box office ((434)-979-1333, open weekdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or online at www.theparamount.net. Tickets may also be purchased on the event’s website at www.unitednationsofcomedy.com. Other ticket outlets will be added, including Plan 9 Music. On the day of the event, tickets will be available all day at the Paramount Theater’s box office. For more information contact (757)-263-0068 or the Paramount box office.

The Paramount Theater at 215 East Main Street was chosen as the host venue for its elegance, history and convenient location in the heart of Charlottesville on the Downtown Mall. Several indoor and outdoor parking facilities are nearby as well as street parking. In the past year, the Paramount has hosted sold out comedy shows starring Ralphie May and Lewis Black.
