Monticello Holiday Wreath Workshop

Thomas Jefferson's Monticello
These ever-popular workshops, in their 25th year, produce a gratifying and tangible end-product: a beautiful holiday wreath. Janet Miller, Lou Hatch, and Maggie Stemann Thompson will lead participants through the process in these three-hour workshops. All materials (straw wreath forms, pins, wire, etc.) will be provided, including a cornucopia of natural materials. Bring hand pruners. All workshops will be held at the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and Smith Education Center. Reserved tickets are required and can be purchased beginning Nov. 8 through the monticello.org website or by calling (434) 984-9881.

Every year on New Year’s Eve, thousands of people come to the Downtown Mall to take part in this fun-filled celebration of the arts, a Charlottesville tradition now in its 30th year. Virginia Discovery Museum

Monticello Holiday Evening Tours

These small-group house tours, which include the Dome Room, offer visitors an intimate look at how the holidays were celebrated in Jefferson's time, plus the rare opportunity to experience Monticello after dark. Tours begin at 5:45 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on each date. $45; reserved tickets are required.
Please note: Holiday Evening Tours are not recommended for children under age 6. Portions of this tour are not handicapped-accessible.
Annual Barracks Road Holiday Parade

In line with its holiday tradition, Barracks Road is hosting the Annual Barracks Road Holiday Parade, November 25, 2011.
As we kick off the season with Santa Claus, colorful floats, costumed characters and many other community members; we are reaching out to non-profit and all for-profit groups to join us in this free and festive event. This will be a great opportunity for school bands, choir groups, performance groups and other family-friendly community groups to participate, increase awareness and get more involved in the community.
