2012 Summer Games at Keswick Vineyards

ATLANTIC COAST STARS VS. PRO STARS

John Paul Jones Arena, along with the Rock and Roll Foundation are pleased to announce the ATLANTIC COAST STARS vs. PRO STARS basketball game on Saturday, October 29 at 3:30pm.
Some of the NBA's biggest stars, including Kevin Durant , Rudy Gay, and John Wall, will lead the PRO STARS. Cavalier greats Robert Mason, Jr. and JR Reynolds will lead the ACC STARS. This event will benefit the Rock and Roll Foundation and the United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area.

9th Annual "In the Pink" Tennis Tournament

The Women's Committee of Martha Jefferson Hospital proudly presents the 9th Annual In the Pink Tennis Tournament at eight area tennis venues: Boar's Head, Farmington, Fairview, Forest Lakes, Glenmore, Keswick, ACAC (Men) and STAB (Teens). The event is open to the public and players of all abilities are encouraged to come out and play! All proceeds benefit Marianne's Room at Martha Jefferson, which provides specially made wigs, scarves, hats and other support, free of charge, to patients undergoing cancer treatments. Charlottesville Community Church is hosting this exciting event for all kids who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children will be able to choose between Soccer, Football, Basketball, and Cheer/Dance as sports specialties and will receive instruction from UVA athletes and other quality coaches each night. Kids who have completed Kindergarten and 1st grade will be exposed to each of the four sports along with playing organized games. The week will conclude on Thursday the 21st with a carnival for the whole family.

The club's original race series, All-Comers Summer Track Meets, established in the summer of 1975, will continue its long term streak of providing an opportunity for folks of all abilities to race distances from 100 meters to 5,000 meters. Thanks to the efforts of Bette Dzamba, Rick Kwiatkowski, Scott Smith and Leah Connor, the club will offer four evening meets at the Charlottesville High School Track (June 16, June 23, and July 7) with the first race beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In keeping with club tradition there is no pre-race day registration (race day registration only!) and a very nominal entry fee ($1 for members / $2 for nonmembers).
These meets are a great way to experience racing different distances or as a means to get in a measured speed workout. Each meet will end with a "distance race" (2 miles or 5K) and will feature a bevy of shorter events ranging from 100 meters to 800 meters. There are several events for children, a parent/child relay, a sibling/sibling relay, and more.

Welcome to the Thomas Jefferson Youth Football League, TJYFL, the largest youth football league in Central Virginia, where the child come first. TJYFL was formed by a very dedicated group of parents and business people who had a vision establish a football league that would give all children a place to play, no matter the child’s size or finical background. No child is restricted in any way regarding his size, only the age. TJYFL keeps is registration cost at an affordable level so that all children can play. TJYFL primarily serves children who live in Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene and Nelson. However, if you live outside one of the counties you are welcome to play. This summer mini skills camp will be run by local coaches, former NFL and college players. During the course of the camp your child will be give instruction by former NFL and College players. Emphasis will be placed on Preseason conditioning, strength, footwork and 7 on 7 team play. Players will be divided into small groups based on age. No experience needed.

Battle of the Badges Flag Football Challenge

Charlottesville and Albemarle Police Officers will take on Charlottesville and Albemarle Professional Firefighters in the first annual Battle of the Badges Flag Football Challenge. Pregame activities will include Bounces and slides courtesy of Bounce Around Amusements. Static Displays and interactive demonstrations from all the area Police and Fire Departments. The Dunk a Chief Dunk Tank featuring area Chiefs willing to take the plunge for charity. Concessions courtesy of the Thomas jefferson Civitan Club. Also featuring a guest appearance from the UVA Football Team. Admission will be $2.00 for this event with all proceeds benefiting the Local Law Enforcement Torch Run and the Central Virginia Burn Camp. A raffle will also be held with tickets available for only $1. Raffle items include two autographed UVA Footballs, an Outback Steakhouse dinner for two gift certificate, and 4 tickets to UVA Football's home opener, courtesy of National Group Protection.

Fluvanna SPCA Putts for Mutts Golf Tournament

The Fluvanna SPCA is holding the 1st Annual “Putts for Mutts” Golf Tournament and Raffle on Saturday, May 14, 2011 (rain date May 21) at The Rivanna Resort and Golf Club in Palmyra, VA. The captain’s choice tournament features a 9 AM shotgun start. The entry fee is $65 per person ($260 per team of four), which includes greens fee, cart, range balls, catered lunch, and an awards ceremony. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams overall, for closest- to- pin (men and women), and for longest drive (men and women). Raffle tickets and mulligans will be available for purchase.
