The following is a little history of the new WAHU FOX 27 including our Vice President and General Manager Roger Burchett answering a few of the frequently asked questions concerning our newest station.

When and how did WAHU FOX 27 get here?
The license for the WADA PAX affiliate was purchased in November of 2004 by Gray Television Inc. Gray Television Inc. is the Company that owns the Charlottesville Newsplex which includes the individual stations; CBS 19, ABC 16, and now WAHU FOX 27. The FOX affiliation was secured in early 2005.

What happened to PAX?
When we purchased the WADA license, the plan was to carry the PAX programming for the first part of the day and during prime time, broadcast the FOX network prime time lineup. This would have allowed us to keep the best of PAX and its more popular shows on the air. Suddenly, just as all of this was getting very close to the launch date, we and WADA received a call from the PAX network informing us that effective July 1st; they would no longer be supplying feeds for any of their shows to any current PAX affiliates, including the local Charlottesville WADA affiliate. We had to scramble to get syndicated programming set up to fill the slots that were slated for the PAX programming. PAX decided to pull all of their shows and go strictly around the clock with paid infomercials.

Why all of the Judge and Court Shows?
As I mentioned above, we had to scramble when PAX pulled their show feeds. We are overscheduled right now with these type shows, especially early in the day. We are also in the middle of the television season for syndicated programming, so we have limited choices to buy from until the fall. We are loading up with some great syndication for this channel as well as the new television season, which starts September 1st. The new lineup will be more in tune with the types of shows that are associated with FOX and WAHU FOX 27 will become an even more enjoyable station to watch.

Was Gray TV, Adelphia Cable, or Dish Network responsible for PAX going away?
Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, all of us were as surprised by PAX’s decision as you might have been. The plan from the start was to broadcast PAX programming along with FOX programming.

Where is the new WAHU FOX 27 found on my television?
If you have Adelphia Cable, you want to go to channel 19. If you have Dish Network satellite or you use an antenna, you want to go to channel 27.

Will the new WAHU FOX have local news?
Yes it will. We plan to launch the new 10:00 PM nightly local news show inside the next 90 days.

What’s the Web site address?
You get to the Web site the same way you get to the CBS 19 or ABC 16 Web site. You go to www.wcav.tv, or you can also get there by going to these two Web site addresses: www.wahufox27.tv or www.charlottesvillenewsplex.tv. Anytime you go our Web site, feel free to send us your feedback. If you leave a telephone number or e-mail address, you will be contacted.
