The Salvation Army Annual School Supply Drive kicks off Monday, July 10 and ends on Friday, August 11. According to figures supplied by the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County School systems, there are approximately 2,873 children who qualify for assistance. The Salvation Army is partnering with Virginia National Bank, FIVE STAR Industrial and Business Supply, CBS19, ABC16 and WAHU FOX27 to raise awareness.
Kindergarten through sixth grade supplies needed are: tissues, marble composition notebooks, pencil boxes, #2 pencils, erasers, snub nose scissors, glue sticks, wet wipes and crayons.
Seventh through eighth grade supplies are: markers, pencil pouch, 3-ring binders, subject dividers, wide-ruled loose leaf paper, pocket folders and pens.
All grades need book bags as well.

The Salvation Army is in need of book bags to hold supplies. Local businesses are encouraged to call the Salvation Army if interested in hosting a book bag drive with their employees.

Served more than 63,000 hot meals to needy people
Sheltered more than 19,000 individuals
Visited more than 4,000 people in nursing homes and hospitals
Distributed more than 3,000 items of clothing and furniture to needy individuals
Served more that 26,000 individuals through our emergency services office
