From online comments, to rallies and now to dollar bills, former Wahoos are showing their support for the University of Virginia. On Facebook a group of alumni are promising to give thousands of dollars to their Alma Mater.

UVa graduate Rahul Keshap decided to start the Facebook group on Friday when he heard UVa alumni threaten to stop donating to UVa because of the Board of Visitors' actions. He turned the negative into a positive and asked graduates to promise to donate to the school, if President Teresa Sullivan was reinstated. Now that support is adding up.

"In the first hour there were about $5,000 in donations. I think alumni were looking for ways to demonstrate their support," explained Keshap.

The group promised to donate more than $16,000 before board members took their seats Tuesday. Now, many say they are making good on their commitment.

"In just the day since [Sullivan's] been reinstated people have been coming back to the page and saying they followed through," said Keshap. He adds that support is need now.

"There are some issues that the BOV noticed might be concerning for UVa so I am hoping alumni will follow through, not just focusing on the crisis of the moment but carry through and show support for UVa," said Keshap.

He says some of those conversations of support have already started, explaining that alumni are brainstorming ways to make it easier for people to donate to UVa using new technology.

"One of the most positive things is that alumni have come together and they are talking about the university," said Keshap.

Donations were pledged to a variety of areas, from the Classics Department to AccessUVa, to the Cavalier Daily.
