The University of Virginia Women's Basketball team is ranked in the top 20 and things are looking good for the Cavaliers so far. What makes this team so successful? As CBS19's Dan Schutte found out, it's a basic approach.

Debbie Ryan's Cavaliers know how to win. In fact, this season coach Ryan recorded her 700th career victory.

"It was a lot of fun. My family was there, my past players were there, I really had a good time. It was a lot of fun," said coach Ryan.

To have teams that win year-in-and-year-out, Ryan emphasizes the fundamentals.

"The fundamentals are key to being a very good basketball team. You can't do anything unless you start with a base that is fundamental, from how to move to how to get from one spot to another. We spend a lot of time on the basics," said coach Ryan.

So, Dan decided to put coach Ryan's fundamentals to a test with the free throw shooting competition. Did Dan best the Hall of Fame coach? Click on the video tab above to find out.

Also, don't forget this weekend the UVa women host perennial powerhouse Tennessee, and they are hoping to set an attendance record. Plus, everyone in attendance will get a free hot dog and a soda.
