No. 2 UVa Men's Tennis Kicks Off Big Weekend With Sweep Over No. 15 Texas
The No. 2 Virginia men's tennis team dominated No. 15 Texas, 7-0, Friday night at the Boar's Head Sports Club. Senior Drew Courtney survived a marathon match at number four singles to give the Wahoos the sweep.

The second-ranked Virginia men’s tennis team opened its home schedule Friday with a 7-0 win over No. 15 Texas.

The Cavaliers opened the match by sweeping the doubles point. Alex Domijan and Steven Rooda topped David Holiner and Daniel Whitehead 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Jarmere Jenkins teamed with Drew Courtney for an 8-3 win at No. 1 over Soren Hess-Olesen and Alex Hilliard. Mitchell Frank and Julen Uriguen completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 3 over Chris Camillone and Jacoby Lewis.

In singles, the Cavaliers won four matches in straight sets to quickly clinch the dual match. Domijan posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Whitehead at No. 2, followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win by Jenkins at No. 1 over Hess-Olesen. Philippe Oudshoorn clinched the victory with his 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Lewis before Justin Shane added a 6-4, 6-4 win over Camillone at No. 5.

Frank defeated Sudanwa Sitaram in a third-set match tiebreaker at No. 3 to make the score 6-0 and Courtney saved two match points to top Lloyd Glasspool 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(6) at No. 4 to complete the shutout.

The win extended Virginia’s school-record home winning streak to 90 consecutive matches.

The Cavaliers improve to 2-0 on the season with the win, while the Longhorns (4-1) suffered their first loss of the season.
