Two former James Madison University football players are being linked to a drug bust last month in a University Fields apartment near the JMU campus in Harrisonburg.
Cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy and even a measuring scale with residue was taken from closets, duffel bags and from underneath beds, according to a search warrant. Authorities say those drugs allegedly belong to Christopher Ferguson, a sophomore at JMU, and Nicholas Emmons, a recent grad.
"No one's heard anything about this, at least on our floor, so it's kind of interesting," said Dale Neves, who lives two floors above where the raid happened.
According to the search warrant, the RUSH task force conducted the raid on Jan. 31 around 11:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Devon Lane. The warrant describes how on two occasions an informant allegedly purchased illegal drugs from Emmons. The warrant also states that the informant told police Emmons' source or supplier is in New York.
No arrests have been made in the case. Police say they want to analyze the substances found inside the apartment before proceeding with any charges.
WHSV's Karen Campbell spoke with Emmons' grandmother who had nothing but good things to say about her grandson's character. She also said she can't believe he would do anything like this to jeopardize his future. She's just waiting for the truth to come out.
