State environmental officials have found high chlorine levels in one of two Henrico County ponds where hundreds of fish died.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports a Department of Environmental Quality biologist ran two tests in a 3-acre pond Monday. The tests found chlorine levels more than 10 times higher than allowable limits.

Department spokesman Bill Hayden says more tests are planned to pinpoint the problem. Department officials said last week they suspected a water-line break may have been the cause.

The pond and a smaller one are located in the Winchester Green subdivision where residents found about 1,100 dead fish.
