Legislation to allow home-schooled children to play on the varsity teams of public schools they don't attend has sailed easily to a House vote on final passage.
The bill advanced Wednesday's definitive vote over objections Tuesday from opponents who said it fails to apply the same accountability to homeschoolers that it does to children in classrooms.
Bill sponsor Del. Rob Bell, R-Albemarle, said the unfairness is toward families who pay local taxes to support public education but are barred from extracurricular activities of the schools.
The bill is nicknamed for Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. He was a Florida home-schooler who played public school sports before he won a Heisman Trophy at the University of Florida and led the Gators to a college football title.

Well from the homeschooled that I know have several friends that homeschool I would say at least 75% are very sheltered and probably would not make a sports team Tebow is a 1 in a million but if a really good athlete has a chance to go somewhere on his or her ability and got in a little trouble at school and it may hurt the kids chance of going to college on a athletic schoalarship I would pull my kid out in a heartbeat some people do not have the resources to send their child to a Fork Union or a STAB to hide their kids behavior or boost grade point
Parents don't want to send their kids to public schools but want them to hang out with the public kids on a sports team??? Go figure!!
if you think Homeschooling is all about keeping your kid on a sports team then go for it!
