Virginia Tech running back David Wilson announced Friday that he will not return for his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Wilson was joined by his parents and coaches for a Friday morning press conference in Blacksburg where the junior thanked Hokie nation, read a personal statement, and revealed his decision.

"I worked out so hard, and like I said I played a lot of Fridays and a lot of Saturdays and I'm looking forward to playing a lot of Sundays. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have fun doing something that I love as my first job."

Wilson leaves Virginia Tech as the single-season leader in rushing yards with 1, 709 this season (along with nine touchdowns). The NFL draft advisory board projects him as a second-round pick.

He is the second Hokie this week to declare for the draft after cornerback Jayron Hosley made his announcement after the Sugar Bowl.
