A storm moving up the East Coast is prompting a flood watch for most of Virginia.
The National Weather Service issued the watch into Thursday for the entire state, except for southwestern sections.
The storm system is expected to bring 3 to 5 inches of rain with the potential for locally higher amounts. The system is moving through counties that experienced a severe drought this summer.
Portions of Greensville and Southampton counties were under a flood warning Wednesday evening.
