A late season tropical storm continues to threaten the Gulf Coast states. Ida has weakened from hurricane status, but still looks to pose a threat to many coastal areas from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle. Wind gusts to hurricane force are possible, but overall the weakening trend should continue through Tuesday.
The remnants of Ida will merge with a cold front dropping in from the northwest. This will bring the chance for rain and wind to central Virginia by Tuesday night and into Wednesday. The heaviest rain should stay just clear of our area, with southeastern Virginia and the Carolinas picking up the worst of the weather. Stay tuned to us on-air and online for the latest updates on this system.
