Ceremonies across our region are honoring those who have served our country. Wednesday, some veterans are having to battle mother nature as they attend events in their honor.
At the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia rain hasn't canceled the annual commemoration, but the rain has thinned out the crowd. Bedford lost more men per capita than any other U.S. area during the D-Day invasion.
They normally have a healthy turnout on Veteran's Day, but there were a lot of empty seats here Wednesday morning and organizers say this nasty weather is likely to blame. But the cold rain hasn't spoiled every event here.
Wednesday's celebrations featured 5th District Congressman Tom Perriello giving the keynote address.
