The snow storm that has crippled much of central Virginia with one to two feet of snow is officially a record-breaker.
Accumulation at the McCormick Observatory at the University of Virginia has reached 17-inches as of 9:30am Saturday morning, which makes it the biggest December snow storm on record.
This weekend's storm has broken the record of 16-inches, which was previously set on December 26, 1969.
Other snowfall totals around central Virginia:
- Lake Monticello: 20 inches
- Wintergreen: 28 inches
- Fry Springs: 19 inches
