VDOT is cautioning drivers to be careful in central Virginia due to the potential for a "wintry mix" falling on roads and they're pre-treating roads just in case.

In a media release VDOT said it has put a layer of liquid magnesium chloride on I-64 over Afton Mountain and Route 250 in Albemarle County.

VDOT says crews will be available overnight if freezing rain becomes a problem.
