As road conditions in and around Charlottesville worsened, residents prepared for another snow storm by gassing up and buying necessities like bread, eggs and milk.

The Exxon station on Fifth Street in Charlottesville typically pumps around 8,000 gallons a day. The assistant manager says they pumped more than 13,000 the day before last weekend's snowstorm.

Dr. William Grosh of Charlottesville was pumping gas Tuesday night in the midst of the snow fall. He says road conditions are not so bad for now.

Dr. Grosh said he hopes for the best as he prepares for this weekend's storm. He says the city did a poor job of snow removal in December, grading the effort at an "F," but said the city gets a "B" for the effort put forth for the "Saturday Slap."

Area residents also spent Tuesday looking for items to keep the car running and walkways and sidewalks at home clear of snow. All over town, hardware stores reported they had most essentials in stock, except for snow shovels.

Martin's Hardware reports it should get a shipment of about 200 snow shovels on Wednesday, but with more than 2,000 inquiries, they expect it will be a mad rush at the store.
