The snow and ice is proving to be too much for trees lining Albemarle County roads.
Some roads are completely blocked off because of fallen trees. Early Saturday morning, ice became too much for the tree branches.
Some have fallen, knocking down power lines and blocking the road. On Polo Grounds Road, several trees were down, including one that completely blocked the street.
One plower, Joey Herring, tried to move it but had no luck. A front loader came by and was able to push it to the side of the road.
Plow drivers said conditions are "a mess," Herring said. "That's what we're seeing right now. It's slick, it's wet and it's cold."
Herring said he plowed the roads all day Friday and plans to be out throughout the day Saturday. His goal, he said, is to keep the roads safe and clear.
If your power is out, call 800-222-0401 to report it.
