Valentine's Day is approaching and local florists are working hard to crank out the arrangements.
But lingering snow and ice could delay some of their deliveries.
At the Flower Man in Charlottesville, owners are concerned more than just creating the arrangements, but also how they're going to get some of them to their destination.
Inside the Flower Man, florists are working hard, clipping flowers and making sure every arrangement is perfect. But they have to figure out if the roads are safe enough to make deliveries to their customers.
With some roads and sidewalks still covered with snow and ice, their team of deliverymen has to make a few adjustments, like making later deliveries or having the customer come outside if a sidewalk hasn't been cleared.
"We will load the arrangement and maybe not make the delivery," Flower Man co-owner Jim Plummer said. "We'll evaluate it and [the delivery man will] let me know what he's found."
Plummer said his drivers are his eyes and ears on the highway, and he said he trusts their decisions about deliveries. The most important thing, Plummer said, is that his vehicles are out on the road and not stuck in the snow.
Whether Valentine's goodies get there early morning or mid-day, deliverymen said customers have been understanding about delayed or rescheduled deliveries.
