Local Campers Sent Home Early Due to Heat

July 23, 2010

Local kids had their day of fun in the sun at the Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Day Camp cut short Friday. Campers were sent home Friday afternoon due to the heat.

Despite the heat, the kids enjoyed a moonbounce, played some basketball and ran through the spray ground to cool down.

The day camp comes to a close next week, but not without boat loads of activities to still enjoy.

"This is our fifth week. We're a six week camp, so they've been here and we've done a lot of fun things with them. They go to Kings Dominion next week, we do a talent show next week, so we're wrapping it up with a lot of fun," said Erica Goode.

The six-week summer camp wraps up on July 30.
