Louisa County Rattled by 83rd, 84th Aftershocks
MINERAL, Va. (AP) Two more aftershocks rattled Louisa County. The Virginia Department of Emergency Management says Wednesday's aftershocks are the 82nd and 83rd since the 5.8-magnitude earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011.

More aftershocks from last summer's earthquake have rattled Louisa County.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a 2.5-magnitude aftershock occurred at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday 5 miles southwest of Mineral and 6 miles south-southeast of Louisa.
Another aftershock occurred 8 miles south of Louisa and 8 miles southwest of Mineral around 9:20 a.m. The second aftershock was a magnitude 2.0.
A third aftershock occurred around 4:00 p.m. this evening. It was also a 2.5 in magnitude.
No damage has been reported.

The vast majority of all quakes and after shocks are too slight to be felt by the public but they are there. Over a period of time they cause stress cracks and fatigue in things like the foundations of nuclear reactors.
