October Snowstorm Disrupts Amtrak Service

October 30, 2011

Amtrak says the early winter storm that has knocked out power to millions is also disrupting rail service.

Amtrak says it has suspended service on a number of lines, including the cancellation of a train Sunday between Washington and Pittsburgh. Amtrak says service on the Northeast corridor between Washington and New York is operating, but subject to delays.

The passenger rail carrier says trees have been knocked down across tracks and into overhead wires at multiple locations, affecting power and signal systems.
