Heavy overnight rains Wednesday resulted in minor street flooding and downed trees in the Charlottesville area.

Old Ivy Road in Charlottesville was closed for several hours because of high water beneath a railroad bridge.

The National Weather Service reported Route 6 on Afton Mountain was closed due to a mudslide. The Weather Service also reported trees down in Albemarle County and in the Culpeper area.

The storm system resulted in a rare, late fall tornado warning in Charlottesville and the surrounding area at about 3am. The warning expired with no reports of twisters.
